maybe a little late now,but if not..........

dont forget after all YOU are buying a 20 year old car so it only make's sense to look around Wink
first off general condition of the car,has the owner taken care to give it a wash and is the interior clean!!!

id definatley be looking underneath,......rear chassis legs(suspension mountings,i.e where the springs sit in the cup, common to come away from the chassis)
also in the boot lift the carpet and take a look in all corner's,also along the rear panel.
outside rear arche's,and inside the door shuts.

engine bay, innerwings, suspension turrets........all common place's to rot if not cared for!!!

does the electrics work,window's/sunroof etc

the engine its-self,before start up,take the oil cap off and make sure there is no creamy sludge/also checking the header tank(porous issue's) dont let the buyer tell you it's condensation!!!
better signs if the engine is "cold" and hasnt been run before you get to it!
this way you can tell there's any tapping(from cold)(if its tapping when warmed up,then they will need changing etc£££££££

make sure the EML(Engine Management Light) isnt on when the car is turned over?

what history/receipts has the car got?

finaly, walk well away if its got a bodykit other than the original one Wink

hope this helps, and let us know how you get on Smile

That's a quality reply from Cavagsi! Cool
Can't really add any more to his excellent answer, apart from don't assume that just because a GSi looks pretty from the outside, that it's actually tidy underneath. My original one looked clean as a pin but was rotten around it's arse end. My current 92 had been waxoiled from early on though, which always helps. Let us know what happens!!
